Calling all pickle lovers! My Creamy Dill Pickle Salad Dressing is the best for any salad or sandwich. Made high protein and with ALL the pickle flavour.

Jar of dill pickle salad dressing next to sprigs of dill and a pickle.

Making a delicious and versatile condiment is a staple in my meal prep routine. It's one of the fastest ways to make boring meals more appealing, and this creamy dill pickle dressing is an essential for me.

I love adding this to my crunchy dill pickle salad, but it also goes on other salads, sandwiches and bowls. Using a combination of dill, pickles and pickle bring for the maximum pickle-ness, this dressing is sour, tangy and punchy. The Greek yogurt base makes it creamy and mellows out all the flavors, so it's not super intense either.

Pickle lovers, you are going to be obsessed with this dressing!

Why This Recipe Is Dietitian Approved

    1. Oil-free dressing. I'm not anti-fat by any means, but I know not everyone likes an oil-based salad dressing. This dill pickle dressing is a great option if you're not into the olive oil vinaigrettes.
    2. Higher in protein. We use plain Greek yogurt as the base for this dressing, which is a source of high quality protein and nutrients.
    3. Versatile. I love pickles in pretty much anything, which means I'm adding this dressing to everything. Salads, sandwiches, bowls or a veggie dip... it's the best versatile condiment to keep on hand.

    Ingredients

Ingredients including dill, pickles, Greek yogurt, spices, pickle brine, and white vinegar.

Greek yogurt. This makes our a creamy base that's high in protein, calcium and vitamin D. The higher the fat percentage of the yogurt, the creamier the dressing will be.

White vinegar. I used vinegar for acidity in tang that is essential in every salad dressing.

Pickle brine. For the pickle essence, if you must!

Spices. Onion powder and garlic powder are the only spices you will need.

Dill. You can use either fresh or dried dill!

Pickles. For best results I recommend dicing the pickles very finely! Use the pickle variety that you like best.

    Substitutions and Variations

To make gluten-free: This recipe is naturally gluten-free.

To make vegan/dairy-free: Replace the Greek yogurt with a non dairy thicker yogurt option like this one.

To make nut-free: This recipe is naturally nut-free.

    Equipment

    • Jar

    Storage

This salad dressing can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container. Please note the dressing may separate over time. For best results, I recommend shaking the dressing prior to serving.

    Top Tip

For a smooth dressing, you can add everything to a high powered blender and blend until smooth. This will help smooth out the dill pickle pieces, creating a uniform texture

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different yogurt?

Yes! You may use any unflavoured, unsweetened yogurt of choice- however please note as Greek yogurt is typically thicker, using a different yogurt will affect how thick your dressing is.

What type of pickles should I use?

I recommend using dill pickles for best results! My favorite brand is Bick's garlic dil pickles

What do you serve this dressing with?

My dill pickle salad, any sandwiches, wraps or bowls! This would be incredible on my buffalo chicken rice bowls. I even like adding it to a snack plate as a dip for veggies and crackers.

I am very excited to try your recipe. I've been buying a premade pickle salad but it never has enough dressing for my taste. That, and who knows what chemicals they put in their dressing.
