This Hummus Wreath is a beautiful Christmas appetizer to serve at holiday dinners and parties. So easy, gluten free and a healthier option!

It's the best time of year: holiday season! I love everything about the holidays, but I especially love the festive food and time with my friends and family. But with all the holiday dinner parties and get-togethers, I'm sure you're always asking the age-old question: what the heck do I bring?! Don't worry- I got you. This hummus wreath has been one of my favorite appetizers to share with my loved ones and you're going to love it too.
Not only is this hummus wreath super beautiful on a table, but it's easy to make too. All you need is your favorite hummus (storebought or homemade), some bright toppings, and some dippers like tortilla chips or sliced veggies.
Why This Recipe Is Dietitian Approved
- Healthy holiday appetizer. ALL foods fit during the holidays (or really, any time of year), but this hummus wreath is a great option if you want to add some nutrients to your plate.
- Easy to make. This is ready in less than 15 minutes!
- Perfect for gatherings. This hummus wreath is perfect for larger groups.
Ingredients
Hummus. Any hummus will work! To make this even easier, you can use store bought hummus or you can make your own with this recipe.
Red peppers. Bell peppers are the perfect way to add a bit of colour to your wreath while also adding in some vitamin C.
Parsley. The parsley creates the “evergreen” base of the wreath. Flat leaf or curly parsley will both work great as you are chopping it anyways.
Feta cheese. I love adding a sprinkle of feta cheese for taste but also to help create the illusion of a light dusting of snow on your wreath. It also adds some texture and flavour.
Optional toppings. You can also add diced cucumbers, sliced cherry tomatoes, or any red/green vegetables. Just ensure you are finely dicing the vegetables to make them scoopable.
The complete ingredient list with measurements can be found in the recipe card below.
Instructions
- On a large circular platter (about 12.6 inches in diameter) use a rubber spatula to begin spreading the hummus in an even layer around the edges of the dish- ensuring there is enough room in the center to place a bowl. The hummus should be about 1 cm thick.
- Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the hummus to create a green base.
- Over the parsley, top with diced red pepper and crumbled feta cheese.
- For the red bell pepper bow: the easiest way to do this is by cutting off one side of the pepper and using a metal bow shaped cookie cutter to cut out the bow. You can also use a small sharp knife to gently cut out the shape of the bow.
- Serve immediately with your serving dippers of choice in a bowl in the center of the wreath or cover and place in the fridge for 1-2 days.

Equipment
Storage
Looking for a make ahead recipe for a holiday gathering? This recipe is easy to make ahead of time! Create the entire wreath and wrap the platter tightly with plastic wrap (this works best if your serving platter has a rim that is tall enough the plastic wrap does not touch the top of the hummus). The hummus wreath can then be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Top Tips for Success
If you would like the perfect circle in the center of your wreath, place the bowl you would like to use to hold your serving dippers upside down in the center of your serving platter before spreading the hummus around the edges. Once you have layered your hummus and adding the toppings, gently remove the bowl. This will create the perfect mess-free edges for the inner circle of your wreath.
