Juice of 2 lemons
¼cupwater
1tablespoonolive oiloptional, see below
2navel orangespeeled
¼cupfresh gingerwashed and chopped, see below
1teaspoonfresh turmericor ¼ teaspoon dried
⅛teaspoonblack pepper
Instructions
In a high powered blender, add lemon juice, water, olive oil. Add peeled oranges, chopped ginger, turmeric and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
Through a mesh strainer or cheesecloth placed over a large bowl pour ginger mixture to remove any lumps. If using a cheesecloth, gently squeeze the liquid through the cloth so all that is remaining is the pulp (I recommend doing this in batches to avoid overloading the cloth).
Pour the thin liquid into individual 2 oz glass jars or in one 12 oz mason jar and store in the fridge.
Notes
Olive oil is optional, however adding a fat source such as oil to these shots helps your body more readily absorb the turmeric.Ginger does not have to be peeled. I personally like to just scrub mine and add it right into the blender to save time. However, if you prefer you can absolutely peel it first.Freshly peeled oranges can be replaced with ½ cup 100% pure orange juice*I have included an estimation of the nutrition information for this recipe below.
